Incumbent President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, PRCAN, John Ehiguese, CEO, Mediacraft Associates was today re-elected for a second term of 2 years to steer the ship of the association.
Other officers who got the members’ vote of confidence to continue in office include, Muyiwa Akintunde of Leap Communications as Vice President; Adetola Odusote of CMC Connect as Secretary General and Jaiye Opayemi, CEO, Chain Reactions as Publicity Secretary.
Others are Tampiri Irimagha -Akemu, of Sesema PR as Assistant Secretary General; Mojisola Saka of Soulcomm PR as Treasurer and Nn’emeka Maduegbuna, Chairman, C&F Porta Novelli as Ex-officio.
The low key Annual General Meeting of the association was attended by few practitioners in comparison with the nominal roll call of registered PRCAN agencies.
Prior to the election, the President unimpressed by the business environment especially as it affects the PR industry, reviewed the industry putting forward 10 key questions he considers critical for consultants/practitioners to move the industry forward and attain its full potential.
These include the place of research and case studies on PR campaigns; respect for the practice; making the industry attractive to talent / potential practitioners; competition especially from foreign agencies and how the industry can develop and practitioners earn more revenue from the practice among other soul searching questions.
The few members in attendance at the AGM devoid of frills and the usual embellishments, resolved to reassess the business, its model with a view to making it a lot more solution driven and powered by research across all facets in a bid to restore and earn the clients’ confidence.
Others who attended the AGM include Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, CEO, CMC Burson Marsteller and President APRA; Nkechi Ali-Balogun; Ademola Adedoyin; Chudy Oduenyi (members) and Dr. Abraham Olushola Niyi, who represented the NIPR President. {fcomments}
