How Babaeko Got to ‘Beat’ the NSE Ceremonial Closing Gong
X3M Ideas last week Tuesday, recorded another first when Steve Babaeko, CEO of the company became the first advertising agency practitioner and owner in Nigeria to take charge of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE’s ceremonial closing gong on the floor of the Exchange in Lagos.
Sources close to the company that has risen to become one of the five leading Nigeria advertising agencies within 5 years of its entrance into the business clime, informed that the CEO and the management of the company were invited by the NSE for some undisclosed reasons.
“The invitation just came from the blues, asking the management of the company to attend the closing ceremony for the day with the CEO being given the honour to be beat the NSE’s famed ceremonial closing gong”
The invitation however might not be unconnected with the company’s underground plans to being listed on the exchange.
Earlier in August, the CEO of the agency in commemoration of the agency’s 5th anniversary granted media interviews in which he touched on plans by the agency to break the jinx, expressing strong desire to become the first full service agency to be listed on the NSE.
According to the interview, the agency has been working hard from inception to build a world class organization that will out-live the founder and generations coming behind. “We keep proper financial record, while control and accountability is given a pride of place as accounts are audited annually to show compliance and global best practice.
“We keep proper financial record and accountability is given a pride of place as accounts are audited annually by one of the globally acclaimed best management and tax consultants, is retained for the job. The company is also said to have appointed consultants to advise it on steps in being listed on the exchange.
Perhaps the leadership of the exchange read and saw the determination of the young team of professionals, hence the invitation to the management to grace the occasion of the closing of activities of the exchange of the 12th of September, 2017 with Steve Babaeko taking charge of the ceremonial closing gong with a view to spur the team on and further encourage them.
