MTN, TD Mobile partner to launch Freetel ICE 2 Smartphone
MTN, a leading telecommunication company in Nigeria, has partnered TD Mobile to launch an all new android Smartphone, ICE 2 into the Nigerian market
According to the company, the new device is just one of many devices from the stable of Freetel, Japan’s biggest Smartphone brand, and powered by Google’s latest Android operating system, Android 7.0.
According to a statement by MTN, the device is Google GMS certified, fully equipped with the latest software and security updates including Google Play Protect a newly-developed software which continuously works to keep one’s device, data and apps safe.
The device is pre-loaded with MTN’s latest apps including MTN Music Plus. Also the device is also pre-loaded with Worldreader’s free e-library of 50,000 e-books – an app that enables Nigerians to read their favourite book at no cost.
The telco company said, “Massive incentives await the first 200 subscribers to get Freetel ICE 2 devices. In addition, all customers who buy the device will enjoy double data bonus on every data bundle they buy for three months, courtesy of MTN.
While speaking at the launch, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN, Rahul De, “We are excited by this partnership because our focus over the years has been on connecting millions of Nigerians to each other and the world, thus expanding access to information, entertainment and endless opportunities. The affordable and innovative ICE 2 takes us further along this journey, allowing more Nigerians to make the transition to smartphones.”.
Also speaking at the event, Eugene Yoshioka, Vice President, International sales, Freetel said the firm is planning to bring four different models of its Andriod smartphones into the Nigerian market with prices ranging from N13, 000 to N38, 000.
He said: “Nigeria is the market for Freetel and we are looking forward to reach out to Nigerian consumers with our latest smartphones. We plan to invest in the country with a full- fledged subsidiary to support sales, marketing and after sales support. We are glad that we are partnering with the most powerful and trusted partner of the region TD Africa.
The Freetel Ice 2 goes on sale in Nigeria this September 2017 at all major online and offline retail stores including MTN’s retail outlets.
