02 Academy Becomes First Training Academy To Get APCON Certification
02 Academy, the foremost marketing and advertising training academy in the country has been officially certified by the Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria, APCON, the industry’s government regulatory body, to offer training and human capital development for industry.
The letter made confirming the official approval dated 19th February, 2018, signed by the Assistance Director, Registration, Career Matters & Corporate Licensing, APCON, Martha Onyebuchi titled “Provisional Approval for Study Centre”, made available to BrandCrunch reads in part:
“Sequel to your application in respect of the above subject and the Council’s inspection visit to the training venue to assess the facilities and submission of faculty available in your training centre, may we inform you that you have been granted a two year provisional approval with effect from March 1, 2018 – February 28. 2020, to operate a study centre at I 1/13, Jumat Olukoya Street, Ogudu, Lagos’’
The letter addressed to the Provost of the Academy further concludes, “We hope you will make the most of the opportunity in order to justify the confidence reposed on you”
The academy which recently celebrated its 10 years anniversary has produced ground breaking results within the time space. While speaking at the anniversary dinner last year, the Provost, 02Academy, Ozoemene Mbanefo disclosed that the training in the academy is second none in the country as it thrives on producing quality human capital for the industry and related fields.
In his words, “we found out that weekend training is not enough to make a person a ground expert. So the training is more intensive, it’s an everyday thing and that is the part people don’t know, we train our students every day, every evening after work and every afternoon from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm, depending on when a particular student has got the time.
Courses offered by the Academy include copy writing, art direction, strategic planning, digital marketing, digital strategy, photography,cinematography and video production.
According to him, the Academy operates with resident instructors who are available 24/7 at the academy taking students through well graded training while and on Saturday “We have top industry experts come in to deliver talks”, added the Provost. To further enhance the training, the Academy has a functional fully equipped radio and TV production studio for photography and Radio/ Tv production training.
“We are strict with our training such that if a student misses classes for more than 10-15 times, we withhold their admission reason being that our name is very important to us, we believe that if we continue to churn quality hands, that’s how we will get our referrers and ensure a brighter career path for our students and alumni. We take pride in our standard and we want to beat our own record”, he declared.
On the certification, he noted that it calls for more hardwork, dedication and service to mankind. “We are humbled and more determined never to let down the industry and our people”. He further disclosed that a lot more innovation and international affiliation and alignments are been structured to keep our students at the forefront of global developments in the industry.
