MTN Nigeria will this week, join the Ooni (Traditional ruler) and Ife indigenes at the 2018 edition of the Olojo Festival. The Olojo Festival is a cultural festival in the calendar of the Ile-Ife, Osun State, celebrating the remembrance of “Ogun”, god of Iron, who is believed to be the first son of Oduduwa, progenitor of the Yoruba people.

Olojo has remained popular in Ile-Ife because of its myths and history. For some It connotes the day in the year specially blessed by Olodumare, while for others it could simply be an opportunity to travel and spend time with family far and near.

As a result of this, MTN Nigeria has joined in the celebration as part of its effort to promote the rich cultural heritage found throughout the Nigerian landscape under a bigger initiative – KultureFest. The initiative is borne out of the desire to preserve and project the country as one with a rich cultural heritage, hereby putting various cultural festivals in the country on the international pedestal also galvanising their potential to generate revenue for the communities bonding.

On KultureFest, Sales and Distribution Executive of MTN Nigeria, Adekunle Adebiyi had this to say “At MTN we are passionate about the Nigerian culture and heritage. As a result of this, we joined in the Olojo celebration as part of our effort to promote the rich cultural heritage found throughout the Nigerian landscape under a bigger initiative –  KultureFest”.

MTN has in the past given arts and culture in Nigeria a rather elaborate platform on which to ride on, sponsoring initiatives like Saro the musical, Wakaa the musical, Fela and The Kalakuta Queens stage play, MTNF-MUSON Music Scholars Programme, Ilorin Durbar festival, and the Eko Theatre Carnival.

MTN Nigeria, through the KultureFest initiative, has evolved into a strong pillar behind major festivals such as Osun Osogbo, Ofala Nnewi, Argungun and Anioma, among other festivals across the country and MTN is committed to uplifting these festivals to an international tourist standard.
