Sterling, FCMB, Fidelity Bank Win at Businessday Banking Awards 2017
The BusinessDay Banking Awards 2017 held over the weekend in Lagos. The award which was inaugurated in 2012 is to recognise Nigerian banks for their outstanding performance in the banking industry
Sterling Bank Plc, won the ”Best Bank in Support of Agriculture”. The award is in recognition of Sterling Bank’s peerless support to the entire value chain in the agriculture sector of the economy
Speaking on the award, Mr. Kayode Lawal, Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, said: “The bank’s commitment to the agriculture value chain aligns with the Federal Government’s current policy focus of diversifying the economy and re-positioning the agriculture sector to play a leading role in economic development.
“We are quite proud of our intervention in the agriculture value chain which is creating food security, stimulating job creation, while also enhancing the income of farmers in Bauchi, Abuja, Imo, Kebbi and Ogun, among other agrarian states in the country.”he said.
Fidelity Bank Plc was announced as the ‘Most Improved in Corporate/Investment Banking’ and ‘Best Bank in Mobile Money Services’.
The lender said the conferment of the awards was in recognition of its “enduring commitment to building a vibrant and sustainable economy through the delivery of innovative financial services to our teeming customers.”
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, who was represented by the bank’s Executive Director, Lagos and South-West, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe at the event, said the awards were an indication that the initiatives being implemented by the lender, particularly in terms of enhancing service delivery, were yielding the desired result.
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and First City Asset Management Limited (FCAM) emerged as the “Most Improved Retail Bank in Nigeria’’ and the “Best Managed Fund in Equity’’ respectively.
FCMB also clinched the “Most Customer Friendly Bank” award at the awards.
While First City Monument Bank (FCMB) is the retail, commercial and corporate banking arm of the Group, First City Asset Management Limited (FCAM) is the investment management services arm of CSL Stockbrokers Limited, another subsidiary of the Group.
