Molfix, BrandCrunch, Airtel win Big at 2019 ADVAN Awards for Marketing Excellence
BrandCrunch, Nigeria’s premier marketing news portal recorded a great feat yesterday, 17th November at the 2019 Advertisers Association of Nigeria Awards for Marketing Excellence at the Muson Center as the platform carted home two awards in the Brand Journalist category.
O’Lekan Babatunde, Publisher/ Managing Editor, BrandCrunch.com.ng and Lekan Ajayi, Asst. Editor won the Bronze and Silver medals respectively while Azeez Disu of Brand Communicator took home the gold plaque.
The 2019 ADVAN Awards themed: “The Business Value of Creativity” and currently in its 26th year, is an annual event designed to celebrate brands and individuals who have contributed to setting standards in the marketing and communications industry in Nigeria with compelling campaigns and public engagement.
Molfix Baby Diaper manufactured by Hayat maintained its fast-rising profile as it won the most coveted award for the night, emerging as the “Brand of the Year” having won the same the previous year.
Molfix Hayat also won in the Experiential Marketing and CSR Category while the brand also took home a silver in Digital Marketing.
Power Oil emerged the best in the “Brand Innovation Category” while Sunlight and Indomie Café followed suit as 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
Nigerian Breweries’ Heineken won the Gold in the “Product Packaging” category award, with Goldberg and Munch IT coming second and third respectively.
Munch IT won the “Consumers’ Choice” Award, a newly added category in the award which solely depends on consumers’ votes.
Other winners at the event include Orijin Herbal recording a gold in the “New Brand/ Extension” category while Molped (Hayat) and Schweppes also claimed the second and third places respectively; Nigerian Breweries’ “33 Export” lager topped the “Consumer Promotions” category, followed by Goldberg and Cowbell Chocolate; Coca-Cola took the lead in the “Digital Marketing” category as Molfix and Airtel occupied the second and third positions respectively.
The Airtel team and its Agency, Noah Ark led by Lanre Adisa, CEO/Chief Creative Officer, were delighted as the Airtel brand coasts home with the Gold plaque in the “Campaign of the Year” category for its outstanding campaigns. Intercontinental Breweries’ Hero Lager and Nigerian Breweries’ Amstel came second and third in this category.
In the Future Leader of Marketing category, Ademola Aliu Funke emerged winner while Rolat Abiola Folake and Oluwanifemi Williams grabbed the second and third position.
Speaking on the awards, the Chairman, award Judges Panel and CEO, Bosano Integrated Services, Mr. Benson Evbuomwan said there were improvements in the lists of entries submitted this year compared to previous editions. He, however, added that some brands failed to make the final list because of poor packaging and refusal so follow the laid down procedures.
Mr. Evbuomwan urged brand owners and their agencies to always adhere to the recommendations and procedures for filing entries in for the ADVAN awards
Similarly, Prof Abigail Ogwezzy, Head of Dept, Mass Communications, University of Lagos and member of the ADVAN Panel of judges also revealed that there were a number of entries that were creative but failed to make the shortlisting stage because of poor packaging adding that the panel has made a recommendation to ADVAN to help members understand better why packaging is of essence in the award.
Other distinguished members of the panel include: Steve Babaeko, CEO/Chief Creative Officer, X3M Ideas; Brenda Nwagwu, CEO, QTV Media Ltd; Patrick Enaholo, Lecturer, Design and New Media Department of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University; Chuka Eborah, Managing Director Bechuro Nigeria Limited; Alh. Ahmed Omah, CEO Graphics Packaging Communications and Tolulope Medebem, COO/Lead Strategist Aster Integrated Marketing Limited.
