ICSAN Gets a Boost as Former President, Bode Ayeku Becomes CSIA Global Leader
The immediate past President and Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Mr. Bode Ayeku, FCIS, has been elected as the global leader and President of the Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) further boosting the profile of the institute.
Announcing the appointment shortly after its Annual Council Meeting which held 7th September 2021, the CSIA in message disclosed that “the honourary officers for the year 2022” as led by Mr. Ayeku “were unanimously elected”.
“We are delighted to welcome the leadership team for 2022 and we look forward to the new opportunities and relationships they will bring to CSIA”, the statement added.
According to the ICSAN secretariat, until his elevation to the exalted position of the President of the global body of chartered Secretaries and Corporate governance practitioners, Ayeku served as an exco member and Vice-President of the global Association.
Mr. Ayeku’s new appointment, according to industry watchers, is a global recognition for the practice of corporate governance and its practitioners in Nigeria. “It’s a testimony that the practice is on the ascendancy in Nigeria and has a voice on the global space to positively impact the practice”.
The CSIA was established in Geneva in 2010 as an association constituted according to article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code and entered into the commercial register in Switzerland. The body was officially launched at the World Bank Headquarters in Paris on 23 March 2010 under the auspices of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
CSIA, has since its establishment, been a Global Voice of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals.
Mr. Ayeku, a Lawyer and Chartered Secretary with passion for excellence in all his endeavours, graduated from the University of Lagos in 1991 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992. He obtained his Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 1995.
The new CSIA Global Leader/President completed his Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA) United Kingdom professional examinations in 1998.
Mr. Ayeku is a member of the Governing Council of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Chairman of the Committee of Legal Advisers and Company Secretaries of NECA. He has equally attended several local and international courses and presented papers at various programs.
